Intended audience

Today’s global business environment creates new challenges for corporate management. It is fast moving and changing and increases the complexity of organizations strategies and operations.

The Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) is designed for senior managers, management consultants and academic professors who aim to develop and acquire high level competences and to further their career with the most advanced business degree program.

Through the conduct of a rigorous doctoral research in management and business administration, the DBA program addresses the learning needs and objectives of senior business managers, management consultants and academic professors.

 

An international partnership

The DBA is an international program operated by Grenoble IAE-INP, Université Grenoble Alpes in partnership with CEFCO Business Education in Switzerland. With more than 1100 students per year, CEFCO has been a leader in the field of executive business education in Switzerland (Swiss Romandie) for 30 years.

IAE-INP, UGA is the Graduate School of Management of the Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) and currently operates the DBA program in Switzerland, China, and Morocco. It provides a unique opportunity for DBA students to present and discuss one's research work with Swiss, Chinese, or Moroccan senior managers during dedicated online seminars.

Program structure

The Doctorate in Business Administration is a three-year part-time program structured around two consecutive periods. It is designed to fit within the schedule of full-time professionals. The courses are organized in blocked seminars so that participants can continue their employment while pursuing their degree.

Doctoral Training and Research Project

YEAR 1: Coursework

  • 4 "Doing research in" (state of the art by disciplinary field)
  • Preparation, submission and defence of the DBA project

Doctoral research and DBA thesis

YEAR 2: Doctoral Research

Flexible and innovative pedagogical organization

The structure of the program is divided in such a way that, during the first year, students attend 9 hybrid or online seminars (one every month), while throughout the second and third year, they must attend 4 seminars, one every 5 months. The first year seminars allow students to acquire the skills necessary to conduct doctoral research, to learn about the main research questions through a state of the art by major business administration disciplinary field and to prepare their doctoral thesis project.

The second and third year seminars allow students to present the progress of their work to other doctoral students and qualified professors in the framework of international online workshops.

Admission requirements

  • MBA, MSc or MA degree in business or management (or an equivalent professional qualification)
  • Minimum of five years experience in a senior manager role or as a management consultant or academic professor
  • English language qualification (TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS …) certifying a B2 (CECRL) level minimum if English is not your first language.
  • Interview with a qualified academic expert where you should demonstrate your motivation and capacity to conduct research during 3 years and also appropriate links to the practice your proposed research refers to.

This price covers the training in its entirety, including application fees, e-learning access to our e-Campus platform, as well as all tuition fees.

The DBA students benefit from a full access to the electronic library of the Université Grenoble Alpes including scientific reviews databases.

They also have access to a range of research softwares provided by Grenoble IAE-INP, UGA.
